The addition – Part 3

The Lower Level:

Like the main level, there was a hallway extension. This provided access to a new mechanical and storage room, an exercise room and Phil’s study. New carpeting was laid throughout the lower level and the ceilings were sanded down, like the main level, to smooth. New doors, window and door casings, and base moldings, also like the main level, were replaced.

On a general note, the sanding of the ceilings was probably the worst of all the jobs. All the rooms had to be covered in plastic and the mess from the sanding was awful.

Also, the lower level is mostly heated by in-floor heat so in the addition, new tubing had to be run before the carpeting was installed.

Phil never had a designated space to work at home before this renovation, therefore the addition of a study was important to him. He wanted a comfortable, calm space to work from home where he wasn’t disturbed, nor disturb the rest of the household. In this age of coronavirus, he has been working from home much more, so this space has been very useful.

Thanks for looking. Have a safe and enjoyable day!
